Saturday, May 1st in the Kent State Student Center
10am-11am: Coffee/Welcome
11am-12pm: Gene Young: Jackson State shooting eyewitness
12pm-1pm: One People’s Project: A presentation on the Far Right
1pm-2pm: Kent NAACP: Activism 101, advocacy and activism at Kent State, community organizing, petitioning, coalition-building, and political education.
2pm-3pm: LUNCH*
3pm-4pm: Dr. Chris McVay and several students will be speaking about their annual trip to Memphis, TN to restore Zion Christian Cemetery, a historically significant but long neglected African American cemetery.
4pm-5pm: Women’s Liberation Collective: A workshop on the struggle for sexual assault policy reform on university campuses
5pm-6pm: The History of White Supremacy in America with Marquis Belton
- *A free lunch will be provided for those who need it. Also, a map of recommended and affordable restaurants will be available upon arrival.
Evening Events:
7:30pm: Free documentary showing in the KIVA on the KSU campus. Fire in the Heartland: Kent State, May 4th, and Student Protest in America.
9:00pm: Kent Anti-Racist Action’s Annual Night of Remembrance benefit show featuring In a Circle, Professor Greenhouse, Poetry by Dan Gallik and Eliza Wild, and more TBA. By donation at the door, located at Checkers N’ Trophies- 352 West Elm St. in Kent. All ages.
